?---------------------------------------------------?
It just happened that Patt came here on a visit and I
gave him pounds to send you. He is to put some
more to it so that you will get it in a few days.
I have sent 5 pounds to Patt first of the winter and
never herd whether you got it or not. I send it in
this way so that he may add some to it.
Well Patt and I was thinking it is going to bee pretty
lonsom for you their now and judge you are to old
to marry so we came to the conclusion if you wish
to come out here it might be better for you and as
your heth is none of the best why a chang of
climat might do you good. You better think
this over and let us heere what you think about it.
if you make up your mind to come you could
give the place to Thos.
[This letter has been passed down to Thomas Conlon
of Dublin, Ireland who is the grandson of the Thomas
mentioned in the letter. Patt is William's brother, Patrick Conlan, of Preston,
Minnesota. John was probably close to 90 years old at the time this letter was
sent. The farm was not left to Thomas as John died without a will. A daughter,
living with John, inherited the farm.] |
