My ancestors
The ancestry report uses 'Ahnentafel' numbering. This means that the numbers for a person's parents will be twice as large as that person's number. For example, if a woman's number is 15, her father will be number 30, and her mother will be 31. Her child will be number 7.
Y-DNA Project
An SNP test shows my haplogroup to be R1b1b2a1a2e2 (M222+), (R1b1a2a1a1b4b on FTDNA). This subclade is defined by the presence of the marker M222. It is particularly associated with male lines which are Irish or Scottish. In this case, the relatively high frequency of this specific subclade among the population of certain counties in northwestern Ireland may be due to positive social selection, as it is suggested to have been the Y-chromosome haplogroup of the Uí Néill dynastic kindred of ancient Ireland. However it is not restricted to the Uí Néill as it is also associated with the closely related Connachta dynasties, called the Uí Briúin and Uí Fiachrach. In addition it is also found in southern Scotland and so is thus commonly referred to as the Northwest Irish/Lowland Scots Variety.
I've had a 47 marker Y-dna test done by GeneBase. My username is billconlan. Joining the genebase.com community does not require that you have a dna test done.I also have the marker data recorded at Ysearch, (username: NM4WF) and Ybase, (username: RPKS5)
If you've had a Y-dna test done and wish to compare the data directly, please e-mail your marker results to the address below, and I'll reply with mine.
